off

I have been thinking for a while now about this, but it is time for a break from Gmt-3...
I don't know if I will come back or if something new will arrive... who knows... but I need this time off...
I leave you with a photo of the tree that a friend of mine grew from a seed and she was willing to turn it to a bonsai... after she heard me talking about torturing plants, she decided to give me 2 of her projects, named "4" and "6". After having them for a couple of years, different sizes of planters and three different houses I thought it was time to find them their final home...
They are now two young Ombu (Phytollaca dioica), living happily in the yard of my farm, and I can not express how I feel every time I see them bigger...
.

Green walls

This was one of the most beautiful things that I saw in Paris... have heard, or better said, read in magazines, I was pretty curious to see in person what was it about...

Designs by the scientist from the CNRS (Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique), Patrick Blanc, that embellish the indoors and outdoors of Paris.

Blanc's technology apparently was his answer to a challenge to find unique ways to protect and insulate building faces. To create the substrate for his vertical gardens, two layers of polyamide felt are stapled to 10mm-thick plates of expanded PVC. These are afixed to a metal scaffolding which ensures an airspace between the wall and the plant layer. It is in this felt layer, with its strong capillary- and water-retaining capacities, that the plants are established at a density of 10 to 20 plants per square meter. A drip irrigation system at the top of the wall delivers a continuous flow of dilute fertilizer solution containing a complete complement of macronutrients as well as oligoelements to the plants. (frenchgardening.com)

More intriguing is the design of these vertical gardens, the selection of the species looks spontaneous but with a curious hint of carefulness...
A delight for the eyes of a plant lover scientist :)
.

The perfumes of my terrace

As soon as we came back from Paris and when I had a moment, I run to a breeding ground to buy new plants for the pots that were empty and to renew some of the look of the terrace. The weather has been so nice here, that all the plants are happily blooming...
