Coca Cola and Ham

Steve prepared this amazing ham, marinating it for 3 days in Coke, salt, pepper and brown sugar. Later on he barbecued-smoked it for at least 6 hours

I am not a big fan of pork, but must say this is one of the best ones I've had!

No soy una gran admiradora del cerdo, pero debo reconocer que este fue uno de los mejores que comí!

Towards the south

This time in CA we drove south to Carlsbad to visit a friend of Scott. On our way we stopped in LA by the Getty Institute

Saturday the 20th we went over to a vodka tasting tour Alameda, actually there was not only vodka but other spirits such as liqueurs, absinthe and more... food as well of course to hold for the alcohol.

El Sábado 20 fuimos a un tour de degustación de vodka en Alameda y otras bebidas como licores... también comida para aguantar el alcohol.

We took a train and then a "party-bus" came to pick us up. It was so funny the difference between the going and the coming back... first, everybody quiet... couple of hours later and lots of drinks more got to a really party in the bus!

Tomamos un tren y luego un "bus-fiesta" nos vino a buscar. Fue muy graciosa la diferencia entre la ida y la vuelta... al principio todo el mundo callado... un par de horas más tarde y varios tragos más, todo era una fiesta!


the distillery was located in an old naval air station, so the brand of the vodka was Hangar. Just the attending people was an experience on its own!!

la destilería estaba en una antigua estación de la fuerza aérea, así es que el vodka se llama Hangar. Ver la gente fue una experiencia en si misma!!

my birthday, we had lunch at the traditional "Bar del Gallego" (like mostly Saturdays when my parents are in town) with my family, and at night we went over to have some russian food at Ermak with my family and Pat... not with Scotty who was away for the week :(

mi cumpleaños, almorzamos en el tradicional "Bar del Gallego" (como la mayoría de los Sábados que mis viejos están acá), con mi familia, y a la noche fuimos a comer comida rusa a Ermak con mi flia. y Pat... sin Scotty quien estuvo fuera en la semana :(

after diner we walked for a while in a foreing district for us and we were lucky to find this newly open bar, which even though it did not have the heating system installed it was pretty warm and cozy.

luego de comer caminamos un rato en un barrio extranjero para nosotros y tuvimos suerte de encontrar este bar recientemente abierto, el cual, a pesar de no tener la calefacción instalada aún, era bien cálido y acogedor.


we had homemade beer to start which was served in cups, as it was the rule of the owner (a kind character)
